Report of the Meeting: 21/8/2012.
Family of Rotary: Nan Calnin has had to have further surgery; she hopes to be home soon. Heather Frankin is to have surgery on Thursday and should be home on Friday. Rod Bush is in Hospital.
Condolences are extended to Rod Birrell on the death of his Father and to Jan Brentnall on the death of her Mother.
Notes and reminders:
There has been a card of thanks for our donation of $500.00 to the Ahlstrom's Association.
- Mega Swim. Training is going well, encouraging onlookers are always welcome. The roster for the various duties, which are fascinating and challenging, has been filled much to the organizers relief.
- Geoff Chandler reminded members about the Shine On Awards. He would be pleased to receive nominations any time.
- Membership: There is to be an information night on 28/8/2012 so please bring along people who may be interested for drinks and nibbles.
- Market: The next and last winter market will be held on 2/9/2012. Parking may be a problem and stallholders may need our help once again.
- Social Committee. Marion Walton reported that the night of Ten Pin Bowling at Belmont followed by diner at the Grovedale Hotel on Sunday 19/8/2012 went well. There were 16 bowlers and 21 people who attended the dinner. Negotiations are continuing for a bus to go to Colac for the Birregurra Cup on 6/10/2012.
- Pride in Workmanship Award. Please consider likely recipients for this award. Gerry Spencer would be pleased to hear of any nominations.
- John Flett for the Public Relations Committee reported that we are able to have an entry in the Voice once a month. This is a very good opportunity to reach the public so make John's life happy and contribute.
- Footy Tipping. Please read the email and continue to tip throughout the finals. Send Alex Magee your Brownlow Medal tip along with the number of points also.
- Alan Barber from the OG Voice is participating in the Run For Life event and needs sponsors. Please see Pres Dick about donating.
- During PP Noel's year we supported Jennifer Nemmitt a jockey who suffered serious injury to attend a fitness course. She has gained suitable qualifications and is now employed part time assisting others who have disabilities.
- Gary Golding is continuing chemotherapy but he will continue with John Fox's help to run the Car Raffle with some changes. There will be 750 books which will need to be sold…. so be prepared.
- Phil Edwards and his group are continuing to meet to discuss the Tuckfield Street extension/park project.

Guest Speaker: The topic for tonight was sharing of information about two of our major projects…. The Art Show and The Mega Swim.
The Art Show. Venue: Drysdale School Hall. Date: Melbourne Cup Weekend. Coral Barker and Tony Haines told us that:
· The art show is on the same weekend as the market.
· Help will be needed to assist Rod Greer to set up on Thursday.
· On Friday entries will be accepted and hung.
· The Cocktail Party is on Friday night. Nan and John Calnin are doing the catering.
· There is a raffle. There will be 200 books, 100 of which will be sold by the beneficiaries.
(The other 100 will be sold at the venue).

· There will be the Cottage by the Sea bus available to transport people from the ferry.
· People will be needed to man the ticket box.
· There will be catering on Saturday and Sunday. Tea, coffee, scones and outside BBQ.
· Manpower will be needed to dismantle on Saturday and Sunday.
Mega Swim.
Trevor McArdle reported that there would be five teams. Sponsorship of teams has not been as generous as last year. There will be a team of walkers. A feature race, the Bellarine Bullet will be a feature as will the entertainment between 6p.m. and 9p.m. All the prizes for the Raffle have been donated. The ANZ and Bendigo Banks are cash sponsors.
Catering will be simple with a BBQ from 12noon - 7p.m. then from 7a.m - 12noon. Self-catering in between. The team is continuing to train hard and so far has raised about $5000.00. Go along and support this major fund raising event as the swimmers work very hard and a cheer for their efforts is always appreciated.
