Highway Clean-up: We have received some information from Vic Roads however, the Committee believes that we need some clearer guidelines and a Safety audit prior to undertaking our commitment in this regard. We will endeavour to obtain same from VicRoads.
Foreshore Weed Clean-up. Proposed. 28/29 August and 23/24 October: Barwon Coast have requested that we undertake a clean-up from the Surf Beach Car Park along the southern side of the fire access track to RAAF’s beach. This is quite a big project and the Committee has agreed to seek the involvement of the Lions Club, Fire Brigade and Community Association.
The proposed format would be to hold the clean-up over a weekend with BBQ lunch provided for participants. There would also be the opportunity for individuals and small groups to undertake the work at other times however, the opportunity for “wider community” participation is and excellent “PR” and social exercise.
Guest Speaker – PDG Eddie Loughnan – Council on Legislation. The Council on Legislation, Rotary's "parliament," meets every three years to deliberate and act upon all proposed enactments and resolutions submitted by a club, a district conference, the General Council or the Rotary International Board. The Council itself also makes proposals.
The Council is composed of more than 500 representatives from every part of the Rotary world. Voting members include one elected representative of the clubs of each Rotary district. Non-voting members include members-at-large, the chairman and vice-chairman of the Council, and others, including the RI president and members of the RI Board and past RI presidents.
