Reports

Membership retention and growth, Geoff Brentnall. Current membership is 49 with two members on Leave-of-absence. There are 20 members booked in to the conference in Portland in March next year. The aim for retention and attracting new members is to ensure that meetings are fun and enjoyable. The venue should be good, with nice food. We have a good bulletin and a good sergeant-at-arms to entertain us. The Family-of-Rotary is also an important part of a good club.

The key to recruitment is to be well informed, to promote Rotary when you can and to look out for new members.

Trevor McArde, programmes – Next week is ‘bring a guest’ night. The following week, Samantha Meagher will speak. A sheet will be handed around next week regarding the ‘visit other clubs’ night. Members will nominate the club they wish to visit and opportunities will arise to share a ride. At the following meeting we will call for some reports on our visits. On 6th September, John Webb will talk about the trip to the Kimberleys. (*There Will be a club meeting on 27th September, although) members may also wish to attend the Charter Night of the Rotary Club of Queenscliffe on September 30th – Dinner at the Vue Grand, $38 per person. A sheet will also be distributed next week. *Ed.

When you chair the meeting, please be sure to take responsibility for the guest speaker from now on.

Hans Franken – Please be sure to phone Hans if you are bringing guests.

Coral Barker, Treasurer – Subs are overdure. Please ensure that you have paid.

Community Service, John Wynn.

Wal Kelly has volunteered to convene a meeting of clubs and groups to decide on the best place for the new defribulator to be kept ready for emergency use.

The first working bee on the Bluff walk (Bluff to 13th Beach) will take place on 8th August. Meet at 1.30 with a good coat, gloves and hat.

Grubb Rd. Track maintenance – Collect safety gear and sign JSA sheet at Ocean Grove Hire. Small groups will work during the week outside peak hours. Litter will be collected in bags and vegetation placed in small heaps for Council collection.

ADG Tim Kemp – Remember the conference in Portland in March next year. NOW is the time to decide if you will attend. The conference is always worthwhile and much fun and fellowship is assured.
