Surely the success of Rotary is due to the way it can be both global and local.. A global network of community volunteers working together in fellowship and friendship, represented in Ocean Grove by our club.
This Christmas, we have much to be thankful for, and much to look forward to. Rotary is growing, and this is evident for us as we have welcomed 5 new members.
The club, under new structure, continues to be effective, social and enjoyable. This is due to the enthusiasm of the board, the leaders of each area and the membership. Congratulations to President Elect Alison on the way she has prepared for the new Rotary year commencing July 2007, and we warmly welcome the board's acceptance of John Calnin's nomination for President Elect 2007/2008.
We will have a two-week break, with the next meeting being Tuesday 9th Jan.
Don't forget the Golf Day interclub with Drysdale, East Geelong and Queenscliff on Monday 8th Jan.
Remember also, if you have a spare afternoon, catch up with Geoff Ford to sell some Car Raffle tickets. This is a great fundraiser for our club, and a good opportunity to spend some time in the community for Rotary. There are plans for sales in the caravan parks as well, and this is a very enjoyable club activity - walking through our parks and meeting people as you sell tickets, you really get a feel for our great coastal retreat.
The PAD project continues as we purchase two new difibrillators to be installed in the COGG/Library building, and the Surfside Centre. We are ahead of the times with this initiative and should be proud of the result so far in installing this life-saving equipment in our community.
Have a safe and merry Christmas.
