Errata
In last week’s bulletin, I described our friend Shigeyuki Furuno’s business as ‘constructing garage doors’. As ‘Yuki’ and his wife Atsuko will be with us in just a few months, I put him on my bulletin e-mail list, and Yuki responded to the vocational bit as follows; “The main product of my business is automatic sliding doors for buildings [airport, hospital, supermarket so on. Sorry, I should have made it clear.”
The apology is mine, Yuki. That is all a lot more ‘upmarket’ than garage doors!

Estate Planning Submitted by Margaret Campbell
Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business, when he found out that he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died. He decided he needed a wife to share his fortune. One evening at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
Her natural beauty took his breath away. ”I may look like just an ordinary man”, he said to her, “but in just a few years, my father will die and I’ll inherit twenty million dollars.”
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days later, she became his stepmother.
“Women are so much better at estate planning than men”, says Marg.
A real newspaper ad. ‘Wanted. Man to take care of cow that does not smoke or drink’ (cont’d by PresAl)

At $1,500 per hour for non-members, who would be so crazy as not to pay an ambulance subscription?
Our session at the local ambulance station tonight was a visit not to be missed. The Ocean Grove depot averaged 200+ jobs on average each month in the two years to 31/12/07. Max. was over 250 in Aug. 07. The Bellarine Peninsular services handled 5200 ‘jobs’ in the last year. The staff get rostered for a 12 hour day or a 14 hour night shift, then time off, but it takes 15 staff to cope with the demand. The equipment is very sophisticated, but, predictably, they need an upgrade.
