Report of the Meeting of 17th January, 2012 .
Guests were Laurie Fagen, PP Maroopna Rotary, PHF.
Also a guest of Dick Clay,  Maureen Renton, formerly from the land in the  Echuca region, recently widowed and new to Barwon Heads. A warm welcome to Maureen. 
And Rotary Youth Leadership representatives Nyasha (member Bayside Rotary and RYLA Leader) and Allen (member Rotaract based at Deakin) who spoke of their experience with RYLA, at Kangaroobie, near Port Cambell. The program develops youth in leadership and self esteem. The Youth Committee still looking for possible candidates for RYLA 2012 in April. As Allen indicated, young people aged between 18 to 25 who would benefit from a week of learning leadership skills and some time for self reflection would be suitable. Not just those already showing leadership potential.

-Letter received from Jenny Curr thanking the club for building an access ramp at her Barwon Heads home.
  • Noel Emselle urges members to bring partners and friends to next week's meeting as Chris Paterson will be an interesting speaker. He is current President of the Ocean Grove Surf Lifesaving Club, with a background in  producing and will give an address titled, exploits with the moving image. 
  • Art Show. Coral will give a presentation to the board. Noel Emselle has joined the committee. 
  • Car Raffle. Gary Golding reports that the car raffle has raised $10,400 to date with further sales expected at the caravan park at Point Lonsdale on Australia Day (5:30pm followed by a BBQ) and at the next market on Feb 5th
  • Conference. Sponsorship is developing. A presentation is being prepared for the Warrnambool Conference. T-shirts, caps and even possibly lip-stick will aid the promotion of our conference.
  • We have a vacant room for the conference at Warrnambool this year. If anyone has now decided to attend, please see Rod Greer with a $50 deposit.
  • Annual Community Bowls at Point Lonsdale Bowling Club. See Gerry. Beginning Monday night, 8th Feb for four weeks. 
  • John Flett proposes a Board Games night. Just an idea at this stage. Your move.
