 Lookout Reserve Maintenance Roster: 15/1/17 – 28/1/2017 – Peter Cullen, 29/1/2017 – 11/2/2017 Gordon King, 12/2/2017 – 25//2/2017 Dick Clay

Report of Meeting: 23 /1/2017

President:
**** Please note the next meeting will be at the Bowling Club as usual. ****
The Burns Supper held at McGlashens Estate was a great success and apparently enjoyed by the 65+ members, partners and friends who attended.
The Haggis was treated with due respect by piping its progress, a tipple and an address and a toast of whisky. Whilst traditional Scottish fare was not provided the usual platters served at McGlashens were enjoyed. A little of the life of Burns was outlined in the Immortal Memory. The toast to the Lassies was most appropriate given his appreciation of the fairer sex. Entertainment was provided by several readings of his poetry and songs from Wilma Andrews. The evening finished with a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
Many thanks are extended to all who contributed with special thanks to Pearl McMillan and Rod Greer for their planning and management.

From the District Board: Directives have been received from the District Board relating to the recent Royal Commission into Responses relating to Child Sexual Abuse Recommendations. RI is encouraging diligence and Districts have been asked to review their circumstances and standards of care when working with Youth. The Clubs in our district are asked to complete the following three requirements in order to meet the Child Safe Standards by Jan 1st 2017 and be compliant with the Rotary Youth Protection and Insurance Policies.
Rotary Youth Volunteer Information and Declaration – ALL MEMBERS (and later some partners) are REQUIRED to complete a prepared form so that you are covered in a 'one on one' situation with youth. This could even occur in a working bee in a schoolyard. The process includes providing personal references and a Working with Children Check, (no cost to Rotarians). You will receive a personally named declaration form in the next few weeks. This is to be completed ASAP and returned to the Secretary (Fred) or to Judy.
The secretary will retain completed forms.
Child Safe Standards: ALL MEMBERS must be familiar with this document.  Two copies are being passed around for members to read and then sign and date an accompanying Membership List, all to be retained by the Club Secretary. **Please let Judy know if you have one of these copies so their circulation can continue! A full copy of the standards is available on the District website under the Youth Tab.
**** Please return Car Raffle books with money at the next meeting.  ****
