Vocational Services Visit to Epworth Hospital, Waurn Ponds:
A large contingent of members and family members attended the tour of the new Epworth Hospital and pizza dinner at the Ocean Grove Fire Brigade afterwards last Tuesday. Suzie Thomas and Richard Fewis hosted the tour. It included a brief introduction talk with questions and answers. This was followed by a tour of the Emergency and Accidents Centre, public areas and several wards on the 5th floor. Epworth is a 100% private hospital. However, it does a number of day procedures for public patients on a contract basis. It also has extensive training arrangements with Deakin University for all its medical related students. It is clearly a high quality facility with state of the art facilities. The hospital opened in April last year and is still not operating at full capacity. There are plans to expand capacity in line with population growth in the Geelong area in the future. (Our thanks to Martin Geerings and the Vocational Services Committee for organising this visit)

Thank you, AH
