ROTARY CLUB OF OCEAN GROVE
Volume No. 21 Number 26
Annual Changeover Dinner, June 29, 2004. Barwon Heads Golf Club
Outgoing President Geoff Brentnall spoke of the successful year in Rotary and expressed thanks to many members for a good team effort, especially Tony Haines as outgoing secretary.
In particular, Geoff mentioned the Community Market, Point Lonsdale Christmas Tree Project, Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner and the Anzac Day Dawn Service Breakfast as successful projects.
The Twentieth Anniversary dinner, GSE Team visit, and the establishment of the Family of Rotary Committee were also significant events for the year, as well as the special acknowledgement of long serving members in February.
Geoff urged the club to pursue membership and fundraising goals in the future and handed the presidency and regalia over to Tim Kemp, wishing he and Karen all the best for Rotary’s Centennial year.
Incoming President Tim Kemp addressed the club, with a promise to bring enthusiasm and a commitment to consultation, a love of Rotary and it’s ideals, the desire to make this world a better place through Rotary, communication, and unity and, simply, manners – despite being quote ‘incompetent, sometimes incontinent and always deaf!’ (One might add a sense of humour to the list. Ed.)
Tim urged the club to strive towards Community Awareness, Needs Analysis, consultation with the council and community, seeking focus and an increase in membership of 30%. Many new initiatives are planned, including partner’s nights every two months, debates and sports days. Committee meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month.
Congratulations to Graham Bath for being elected Probus Consultant to District 9780.

A thought for Rotarians
' I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good thing therefore that I can do, any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.'
Stephen Grellet [1773-1855] A French missionary.
