WHO AM I? - DAVID CORNWELL
David is a BIG man, five feet nineteen inches tall with size 14 shoes. He has 6 daughters and 7 grandchildren (5 boys and 2 girls). He is enjoying his involvement with the Ocean Grove Football Club and described himself as "organized”. He related some amusing anecdotes about his experiences during his upbringing in the Hotel his parents ran. He hopes to make a BIG contribution to club activities. I believe he will prove to be a HUGE asset to the club.

Guest Speaker, PP Christine Power from the Highton-Kardinia Club addressed the club as a representative of the District Membership Development Committee. Chris stressed the importance of membership development, pointing out that the District membership dropped by approx. 50 last year which is typical of the situation world-wide. In fact it has been estimated that at the present rate of attrition Rotary would cease to exist by 2030. Reasons given for members leaving Rotary CIubs include lack of interest, business factors and relocation. Chris outlined the two aspects to healthy membership growth namely RETENTION and RECRUITMENT. Perhaps we have heard it all before but it is good to be reminded of the significance of membership development. Thank you Chris.
P.S. The Rotary Club of Highton-Kardinia is holding a dinner auction night with an Hawaiian theme on Saturday October 9th, $45/head.
