Procedure for Electing New Members

PROCEDURE FOR ELECTION OF NEW MEMBERS
Based on the assumption that after attending at least three meetings, it is established that the proposed member;

a. is interested in becoming a Rotarian,
b. appears to be of the character required by a Rotarian, and
c. is aware to some degree of the Objects of Rotary,

the election procedure may commence.

The procedure should occur in the following order:

The proposer is to submit a signed and dated Membership Proposal Form to the Membership Sub-committee for decision. (This could occur at the 3rd meeting attended)

The Membership Sub-committee is to meet and decide upon the proposal. The sub-committee is to inform the Club President and the Secretary of its decision, by whatever means is expedient, prior to further discussion with the candidate. (This could occur between the 3rd and 4th meetings)

The proposer, the proposed member and at least one member of the Membership Sub-committee are to meet to discuss the responsibilities of membership and the legal ramifications of signing the form. The proposed member then signs the form. This activity is to be reported in the next issue of the Club Bulletin, (This could occur between the 3rd and 4th meetings)

If no objection is received within seven days of the publication of the Bulletin the proposed member is to be invited by the Membership Sub-committee to pay the admission fee and the annual dues in accordance with the club's bylaws. The proposed member then becomes elected to membership.

A formal Induction Ceremony is conducted at the next appropriate meeting.
