Meeting Report

Club Assembly. The members met in committee groups to discuss plans for the year, fundraising and spending.

Charles Dawborn was presented with a certificate by President Helen for 44 years service to the Rotary Club of Echuca.



Assistant Governor PP TAG Kemp brought a message from District Governor Wayne Barrett regarding the focus on retention as a by-product of good fellowship.

Ken Wyatt and Virginia Harris-McHale were inducted into the club by PP Kemp.

Reports

Community Service, John Wynn. Bluff walking track development to proceed on August 8th. Hans Frankin will provide a collection point for DIK at Ocean Grove Hire. Geoff Chandler will persevere with COGG regarding the memorial garden. Other commitments are planned towards Red Cross, Organ Donations etc.

Vocational Service, Charles Dawborn – Planned activities include Mock Job interviews and a workplace visit, a night at The Gordon, Pride of Workmanship Awards, RYLA Awards, working with older people for placement in employment “Good As Gold” What’s new in my business 5-6 minute addresses, ethical standards and equal opportunity forums and an award for employers who provide exceptional education opportunities to employees.



International Service, Margaret Campbell – Water tank projects in Fiji, Bike manufacturing plant in Vietnam and DIK are on the agenda. There is a supply of IT books to be assessed for suitability to DIK.

Youth, martin Geerings – Baysa Bikes Programme (Support to be self sufficient), Roy Rose Award, Siemens Science Project, a concerted effort on RYPEN, supporting Jan Howard (outgoing student) and Jack Maddin who returns in January, a junior CFA, SES and Fire Brigade promotion and the Ocean Grove Police programme. Thanks to David Tyrrell for his commitment.


Market, Judy Greer – The market will be on in 2 ½ months. Be ready. All arrangements are in hand.

Social, John Calnin – Please read the Social Calendar and show your partners. A prĂ©cis of tonights reports is required from each director.

Assembly

Tim Kemp – We have had 11 new members since July last year – recruit with vigor!

Judy Greer – Club identification. Consider a lapel badge for club service projects which identifies members and Rotary – minimal cost.

Geoff Brentnall – Do a make-up with another club if you cannot attend this meeting.

Coral Barker – Suggest not having a meeting one night and visit other clubs – a great way to get ideas. Margaret Campbell has experienced this at another club and the structured reports were very helpful.
