The Quiz
This innovation has either failed to grab the attention of my readers, or, perhaps, I don’t have many.
At least, I had two for the initial trials, Tim Kemp and Rod Greer. However, since Tim got Canada as the longest coastline and also Angel Falls in Venezuela as the highest, [at 979 metres] he gets the prize for both contests, but is disqualified from winning anything else until the New Year, in accordance with the rules of the competition, which I have just devised.
So, in an earnest attempt to make it easier for you, I list hereunder the 10 questions of the World’s easiest Quiz, fair dinkum!
1 How long did the hundred years war last?
2 Which Country makes Panama hats?
3 From which animal do we get catgut?
4 In which month do the Russians celebrate the October Revolution?
5 What is a camel’s hair brush made of?
6 The Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean are named after what animal?
7 What was King George the V1’s first name?
8 What colour is a purple finch?
9 Where are Chinese gooseberries from?
10 What is the colour of the black box in a commercial airline?
Now then, these answers are so obvious that I would not dare ask you to send in a written response, but in case you want confirmation, the answers are on the next page.
Short – Term Youth Exchange. [continued from last week]
Participants can choose from the following most common types of short-term exchanges:
• Homestays can be arranged for individual students or groups of students to stay with host families in another country for a few weeks. Usually, these visits are reciprocal – for example, an Australian youth may spend a few weeks in Sweden, followed by a visit from a Swedish student to Australia.
• Tours of one or more foreign countries are arranged for some short-term exchanges. These tours may involve groups of young people from a single country or several countries.
• International Youth Camps are organized to bring together students from several countries. Some camps provide leadership training and address international concerns, while others focus more on helping students from different cultures get to know one another. Camps involving both able-bodied and disabled young people have become popular in many countries.
• New Generation Exchanges are open to people ages 18-25, making this an ideal option for recent secondary school graduates and Rotaractors. Usually lasting three to six weeks, these exchanges may be arranged for individuals or groups, and can involve homestays, tours or camps.
The fore-going is from a publication issued by Rotary International.

I have hesitated to print this for about two months as I thought we had enough of slander, libel ,defamation and all that stuff. But this bit came ‘stormin’ in from a migrant from the West, so I now print it verbatim.
‘Despite scurrilous remarks by a certain PP about ‘proper farmers’, let it be known that a former farmer has been widely described as ‘outstanding in his field’. Trust me. [ The full quote is; “He never did anything; he was just out, standing in his field”]’.
Make of that what you will !
This Day Tonight
Well, that was the best talk about the Rotary Foundation I have ever heard, and I have heard a few. Well done, Tim Kemp. 38/46 members listened, which is a bloody good turnup.
Our Jan Market is 1/1/06, so if you can’t make your duty, phone Judy.
John Wynn was eloquent in his praise of the 10 members who attended the BH Bluff WB last Sunday. The pm WB planned for Sunday 27 Nov will possibly be the last, so get your name in for the Hall of Fame!

End bit
As the golfer trudged towards the 19th hole at Royal Melbourne, he muttered, “That was my worst game ever”. To which the caddy replied, “You mean you’ve played before?”
