November is Rotary Foundation Month
I intend to use this and edition no. 22 partly for the Foundation because it is the charity limb of our organisation, and we should all know the basics. Tim Kemp did a wonderful job on the subject last week, and these few points simply underscore some of his key comments.
Foundation Funding
Contributions made by individuals, clubs and districts are invested for three years. After three years, 50% of the original contribution is returned to the district through the District Designated Fund. The other 50% of the original contribution is provided to the World Fund to support humanitarian programs and provide one Group Study Exchange per district every second year.
Investment earnings support administration costs and may be used to benefit the foundation’s humanitarian and educational programs.
Gifts to the Annual Programs Fund count towards Paul Harris Fellow Recognition, Multiple Paul Harris Fellow Recognition and Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Recognition.
Contributions of at least $2 are fully tax-deductible
Any member wishing to contribute to the Rotary Foundation should write to ‘Rotary International, McNamara Centre, 2nd Floor, 100 George St., Parramatta, NSW 2150’.
Three Group Study Exchange teams will be at the Portland Conference
Our District is sponsoring a team to Belgium this Rotary year, and there will be inbound and outbound teams to/from New York State USA, all at the District Conference in Portland, first weekend in March . If you want to go to the conference, get a reg’n form from Tim Kemp.
I didn’t leave enough space!
Each week, as I think of stuff, I progressively build up next week’s edition so as to leave about 25% of the available space for the night’s events. Tonight, I needed about 45%.

End bit
The attendant at the car wash chatted to an emerging customer. “ I bet you’re Irish”
“ Now how on earth did you guess that?”, said the customer.
“Well to tell you the truth, we don’t get too many people coming through here on a motorbike”.
