Mujibar was trying to get a job in India
The Personnel Manager said, “Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass it, you cannot qualify for this job. Mujibar said “I am ready”
The Manager said,” Make a sentence using the words Yellow, Pink and Green.”. Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, “ Mister Manager, I am ready”. The Manager said, “go ahead”.
Mujibar said, “The telephone goes green, green, and I pink it up, and say, ‘Yellow, this is Mujibar,’”
Mujibar now works as a technician at a call centre for computer problems. No doubt you have spoken to him.
I think I have. Have you?
[ Thanks to Keith Nixon for that one. Incidently, the one liners over this and last week, are Noel Emselle’s.]
Like……………Experience is something you don’t get until just after you need it.
Sharing Rotary with new members continued from last week.
The RI Constitution states, “Each club shall have a well-balanced membership in which no one business or profession dominates.” One merely has to glance through the pages of the local telephone directory to realize that most clubs have not invited qualified members of all businesses and professions into Rotary. One of the founding principles of Rotary is a fair and equitable representation of the professional and business population of the community it supports. To remain relevant, Rotary clubs must be inclusive of all professions and businesses within a community.
Well, that’s what the ‘ABC’s of Rotary’ states, but personally, I believe that the use of the word ‘all’ above, [the bold type is mine],represents an aim which is impossible to achieve. If we had a membership representative of every vocation in Ocean Grove, we would surely lack a venue large enough to accommodate us all!
I think our club is a happy and cohesive club, but perhaps, on reflection, not a well-balanced one, in the context of representative membership. We have no practicing doctors ,dentists, solicitors physiotherapists or chiropractors in our club, but Ocean Grove has at least two of each!! And that is just a quick look at the professions. How about the trades and businesses?

Friends of the MSO has proved a success
Your editor is grateful to those of my fellow Rotarians who have become members of this new organization aimed at promoting and supporting the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s five-concert annual series in Geelong. We currently have 177 members, and 15 of those joined yesterday! We expect to have over 200 members by the time of next week’s official ‘launch’ of the 2008 concert program.

This Day Tonight The 2007 Graham Bath Memorial Community Service Awards
The Rotary Club of Ocean Grove does this sort of thing extremely well, [thanks to the superb planning and chairmanship of Tony Haines]. We had 4 staff from the local primary school as our guests, outnumbered by the awardees, who, in turn, were outnumbered by their proud parents. I lost count at 45, but there could have been 60 guests present, but certainly, more guests than Rotarians.
Those marvelous kids, of an average age of 12, and all in year 6, addressed an audience of about 90 at a microphone on a dais, with all of the aplomb of mature and experienced speakers. Coached by Jenny Lander, and with help from their parents and teachers, [including Lauren Baker and my footy mate Ross Herbert] and watched with pride by Principal Lindy Judd, those students had to volunteer for 10 weeks of community service, 10 of a physical recreation program, 10 learning a new skill, and be committed to 5 separate social experiences – community commemoration, meetings, different cultures, a different religion and an arts activity.
The awardees who addressed the gathering were Chelsea Taylor, Laura Ellis, Jasmine Pearson, Loretta Kelly King, Jake Taylor, Bradley Fendyk, Rebecca Cahill, Shayna Finlayson, Chelsea Quigly and Rachel Hagger.
Absentees were Declan El Hage and Shane Walker. Their mums, dads and teachers can be very proud of them all. It was a ‘feel good’ night.
