Vocational Visit. The SES facilities at Drysdale
Pres. Dick Clay
A small and chilly group of Rotarians visited the Drysdale SES for a tour, demonstration of equipment and explanation of the needs of the Branch.
It was impressive to see the amount of equipment and the skills of the SES personnel in handling the various items. The amount of equipment that each of the vehicles carried was astounding, yet the need for new and replacement items were ever present.
DG Helen Trigg
A highlight of the visit was the chance to operate the cutters and spreaders, which are used to access vehicles damaged in collisions. The Branch has a running budget of about $20,000 but receives about two thirds from the State Government and the local Council. The rest has to be found through fund raising. Replacement of their storm vehicle alone is about $50,000 (and then it needs to be equipped).
It would be hard not to support a request from them. It was suggested they come to one of our markets and demonstrate their work.
Thanks to Rod Greer for taking the notes.
