Visiting Rotarian: Geoff James, District Governor and wife Meryl
Also present were AG Phil Beasley and Sami Gravener, out going Exchange Student to France.
Report of the Meeting: 7/10/2014
President: The Bike ride around the Bellarine Peninsular will be on 19/4/2015. There will be 15 – 20 volunteers needed
The event has Rotary insurance backing and has the potential to raise $20,000 in the first year and much more in future years.
Secretary. There was a thank you note from John and Pippa Paton for our condolences.
Pride of Workmanship awards are due in next week.
Community Development: Help on the 18/110 for the Community Picnic and information day will be needed to collect entry passes and to assist stall holders to find their places. The time required will be from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00p.m. Several members indicated they were able to help.
Market: There were 70 stallholders. The raffle raised $132.00 and gate takings of $768.00 will be given to "Relay for Life".
Youth: Graham Bath Community awards from some of the students will be presented on 21/10/2014. Most of the many presentations will be done at the schools.
Foundation: Perspex boxes are still available for the collection of loose change.
Membership: There will be a meeting at 5.30pm next week.
Social: The Progressive luncheon will be on Sunday 26/10/2014. There will be a list circulated with the contribution each participant should bring. It appears we will be well fed!
District Governors Wife's Project: Meryl James is supporting the supply of Aqua Boxes, which are designed to supply purified water to prevent thousands of people suffering illness and death. District 9780 have already donated over $10.000 towards the project. The boxes also contain mosquito nets and blankets as well as the equipment to purify water.

Guest Speaker: DG Geoff James.
Geoff spoke to the theme of Rotary for this year, Light up Rotary, using the candle as a symbol showing enlightenment and the right path for success.
To get us in the mood he and Meryl sang an adaptation of "I am You Are Australian" to fit Rotary so our mood would be accepting.
The DG's talk outlined 27 steps grouped into three sections:

·      Learn about Rotary
·      Endeavour to live by the 4way test

·      Assist members to enjoy service
·      Regular Club Assemblies

·      Showcase activities in the community

After another song Geoff reminded us that the District Conference would be on 20th – 22nd March 2015 at Maryborough.
