John Calnin has been made a Life Member of the Neighborhood Centre, Congratulations to John for many hours of hard work.
The meeting with Geoff James went well. He was full of praise for the activities performed by the Club.
All complaints about the food are to be channeled through Vic who will inform the Management of the Bowling Club about the complaints.
The members were informed about the resignation of Helen Trigg. Helen has a busy and productive private, community and business life her workload in Melboune may increase, as have her responsibilities with the Naval Cadets. There has been some dissention or "white noise" recently and Helen believes her involvement in this may be the cause of this unrest, hence her decision to resign. Proper procedure by the board was probably not followed. The matter was referred to members and there was a vote of confidence in the Board, (albeit not 100%). Recognizing that there was dissention Rod Greer ran a session with the board using the De Bono 6 hat problem solving. Future progress and directions will be available in a couple of weeks. All members will receive an email copy and your positive responses will be the stepping-stones to our future directions.
Remember we are all volunteers. We have a great record of achievement, which we should all celebrate.
The white noise maybe holding us back from what we do best… Service Above Self

Jeanette is a Certified Practicing Accountant with 25 years experience in business in Ocean Grove. She has seen many changes especially in the area of taxation. Small firms are unusual as larger firms are expanding and encompassing them. Also public accounting is not popular with the younger generation, but technology may be an incentive to work in the area. Social media and the cloud are becoming more common and challenging. Security is paramount to avoid identity theft and to protect ownership of information.
Changes occurring in the workplace affect pay structures, as there is the desire to work part-time, full-time, casually and in remote areas. Out sourcing of more routine tasks is fairly common, as lower costs in off shore businesses are favoured. Changes in legislation with stricter control of financial services means greater liaison between accountants and financial advisors.
Superannuation fund allowances are also changing affecting the amount of taxation being collected. Money collected from tax is reduced therefore funds needed for the provision of services for the community is reduced.
Compliance regulation is also becoming more complex.
Electronic lodgement of tax returns is reducing business, as is the tendency for many people to submit their own tax returns. Plenty of foods for thought!
Please note it is essential that apologies be recorded by 12noon on Mondays. Also the Club has to pay for members who have apologized and not turned up! Phone number is 0457 315 900. Thank You.
