Sabita and John are both from Nepal. They opened the Blue Mountain Indian Restaurant in Ocean Grove after having gained wide experience in catering businesses. Their knowledge of cooking has come from the elders in the families especially the Mothers. They are very keen to use local seasonal produce and are very particular about the seasonings and spices they use.
Modification of the menu to suit clientele is promised. Local staff members are needed to work in the business.
Business over winter is quiet so a visit is encouraged and according to many reports well worthwhile.
Ivy and Tony has operated the Groove Café since 2015. They come from China where experience in catering was gained, as was knowledge of English language.
All food is homemade and they serve a wide selection of curries and rice, risotto, soup, savory dumplings and pasties. Fresh fruit, fruit juice and slices are also available.
90% of their customers are locals and Ivy and Tony try to remember them by name. They have 2 children and very helpful parents who also work in the Café.
Ivy and Tony love the work and when they are not too busy have fun with the staff. They hope to extend outside in the warmer weather.
Apparently very good coffee is served!
A reminder to members about he the 'Walk across the UK' Phil Edwards and a mate have undertaken to raise money to assist soldiers who are currently suffering the effects of military service.
