Apologies by 4.00pm FRIDAY

John Wynn, Community Service: We are planning to finish the Centennial Tree Planting this coming weekend. Meet on Sunday morning at the bottom of Hodgson Street.

Geoff Chandler, Memorial Project: Letter received from the City of Greater Geelong expressing thanks for feedback, but offering no support for our project to establish a memorial garden at the lookout.

David Tyrrell, Youth Services: Signe has left the country and will soon be home. Her exchange has been a great success. Congratulations to Martin as Councillor, as this is a challenging role.

A vote of thanks was extended to both David and Martin.

Guest Speaker, Matt Gerber: Matt was introduced by John fox, who spoke of the trials and risks associated with Youth Exchange. Bringing young people to an unfamiliar country, with a different culture, sometimes different language, and unfamiliar education program has its challenges and while, after 40 years, it is generally a success, it is rarely an outstanding success, except in the particular case of Matt Gerber.

Matt spoke not only of his adventures, and his formative years leading up to his trip to Ocean Grove, but of the value and power of relationships. Living the mission of service above self has led Matt to establish an International Relief and Development Organisation. He continues to be involved in Rotary through Rotaract. Matt thanked the club for the investment of interest in his life; an investment which has had a profound effect.
