Rotafact
By the time the world is certified polio-free, Rotary’s contribution to eradication efforts will exceed US$650M.
Childrens’ versions of the Bible Stories, episode 5 of 9. [My proof reader again observes that none qualify!]
The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespeare. He was born in the year 1564, supposedly on his birthday. He never made much money and is famous only because of his plays. He wrote tragedies, comedies and hysterectomies, all in Islamic pentameter. [Ed. Comment – “Blimey!]
Writing at the same time as Shakespeare was Miguel Cervantes. He wrote Donkey Hote. The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise Lost. Since then no one ever found it.
Delegates from the original 13 states formed the Contented Congress.

The Bellarine Police Community Support Register
If tonight’s subject was Ann Nichol’s and Gary Coombes’ first ‘power point’ presentation on this new initiative, then I hope to be around when they get experienced! This is due to become one of the emergency services available locally for the benefit of the elderly on a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis.
Address, phone no., next-of-kin, location of spare house key, and other strictly confidential information will be available in an emergency. No registration cost, no minimum or maximum age limit, [ ponder this – there are 10,000+ over 65’s in the Bellarine district], and volunteers for a variety of duties will be sought, not just from Rotarians, but also from other groups, such as Probus.
As members of an incorporated organization, members of the support group may have to pay a joining fee and an annual sub’, probably $10 for each, but they will be needed for funding, marketing, art work for promotional activities, legal services, volunteers and co-ordinators. A great concept, worthy of our support.
This bulletin is late because I had to attend a Board Meeting. [ an unruly, argumentative mob!}
• To the nearest $100, we have uncommitted funds of about $2000 in admin. and $6000 in charities.
• Judy Greer has beaut Rotary caps for the bargain price of $15, and we are urged to wear them at Rotary functions. Like today’s working bee, and the ‘Rotarians at work’ sign should also have been displayed!
• There are membership development and youth projects to be announced soon by Trevor and Helen respectively.

End Bit
A firefighter is working on his gear when he notices a little girl next door with a dinky little red wagon, mini ladders and a garden hose on top. She’s got a fire-fighter’s helmet, and the rig is being pulled by a dog with collar and a cat with testicles. “Lovely set-up, little girl, but why don’t you put a collar on the pussy cat?”
‘You’re probably right”, she said, “but then I wouldn’t have a siren”. Contributed by Wal Kelly.
