The District Governor’s Visit – 1 September: I would like to thank the following for helping to make Chris and Christine Sims’ visit so enjoyable;

• Richard for organising our Club’s photo page for the 09/10 District Year.
• Alison, Ingrid and Judy for organising and packing the ‘Care Packs’.
• The Board Members for giving up their time for the afternoon meeting.
• Vic for making sure everything was in order.
• All the attending partners.

It was a great feeling to be part of a Club able to report so positively on all the matters most of interest to District Governor Chris. We can be proud of our Club. It is our responsibility to share the grounds for our success with others – to look for new members and new projects. I would like to thank Chris and Christine for coming to Ocean Grove and extend a very cordial invitation to them to visit us again, soon.

Listen to an audioBoo (a 5 min audio recording of part of DG Chris Sims' address).

The Rotary Story And How We Are Shaping It (And Telling It):

We have had a couple of overseas comments registered through the blog, on our Bulletin. One, the Editor believes, may be from Japan. He is trying to get it translated (any Japanese speakers and writers in the Club?). The other is from the USA; from Past District Governor Martin Limbird a ‘Zone Trainer for Communication’ from ‘the Heart of America’. According to Rotarian Martin; ‘the use of a blog by a Rotary Club is an innovative (step) to enhance communication’. He says our initiative will be shared ‘with District Governor Elects and District Governor Nominees in (Rotary) Zones 30 and 31’. ‘Rotary International Zones 30 and 31’ together comprise 26 Rotary Districts in 13 States – the ‘Rotary Zones 30 & 31 Institute’ will hold a ‘Rotary Roundup’ in Tulsa, Oklahoma this month.

Rotary Club Footy Tipping:
This season’s winners are;

• Geoff Chandler Total Score 129
• Alex Magee Total Score 126
• Marion Walton Total Score 124
• Geoff Ford Total Score 111 (and the Wooden Spoon)

(8TH and 15th September are part of Rotary’s;’ New Generations’ theme month)
22nd September: Darryl Thomas CEO Geelong Cemeteries Trust.
29th September: Rotarian David Tyrrell – on his recent sailing trip to Noumea

(Not always possible of course and there is a small cash float held at the reception table BUT it is a tremendous help when attendees pay the exact amount of $20 per head on arrival.)

(Editorial Team: Ian Downing & Richard Grimmett – Letters to the Editor are welcome. Expletives will be returned)

District Governor Chris Sims and Christine have requested a photo page from each club to remember their year as DG. Here is a copy of the page presented to them at the meeting. (Click for full size)
