Report of the Meeting: 6/3/12.
- President Margaret floated the idea of advertising who the guest speaker was to be at the meeting, proposing this could generate interest and perhaps a broader picture of Rotary and even some members. For discussion later
- The trip to the South Channel Fort was thoroughly enjoyed by all even though it was too rough to land. The boat followed the Queen Mary 2 for some distance. She is a real Ship!
- Red Cross. Peter Hawthorne was very pleased with everyone's efforts especially Hans Franken who was surprised with a cheque for $1,000.00. I wonder what he has to do in return. Remember collection can go on until Easter, so a return visit to those places where no one was at home can be made.
- The GSE Team who are from Iceland and Queenscliffe Rotary Club would like us to join them for dinner at the Royal Hotel in Queenscliffe on 26/3. Ring Bob Iser if attending.
- New Generations – Anne Hodgkinson reported that the only candidate for RYLA is our scholarship holder from the Gordon. There are two applicants for RYPEN. Tony Haines and Anne have 22 Primary School students for the Graham Bath award.
- Membership- Noel Emselle reminded us that the FROGS meeting has been changed from 7/3 to 14/3. There will be one every second month. Jess Brown from the Ocean Grove Care Group will be the guest speaker. He asked that as many members as possible turn up reminding us that this a possible avenue for new members to learn about Rotary.
Noel has the roster for the Lookout reserve duty. It involves about 10 – 20 minutes to clean the signs and pick up any rubbish.
- Phil Edwards asked for some helpers for the BBQ for the Disabled Surfers event on 25/3. Contact Phil if you can assist.
- Fundraising. John Eyles. The Gaiter Aide Triathalon is on 18/3/12. As John will be away email addresses have been forwarded to the organizers. (Ben Parker)
- District Conference. Rod Greer has hard copy registration forms available.
- Football Tipping. Alex Magee is in charge again this year. It is $50.00 to participate and he assures us that we all will win! The Club receives 50% of the money.
- Market. Attendance was small, weather and the Strawberry Fair may have contributed to this. There were 398 cars, $512.00 collected for the Shelter Box program and $208.00 raised for the raffle.
- There is a trip going to view the dinosaur display at Apollo Bay on 20/3. There are a few seats available on the bus. Contact Anne Hodgkinson if interested.
- Fred Andrews pleaded with us to remember to submit forms for Bowling Club Social membership as soon as possible. He will not be responsible for the consequences if you fail this task!
