- Winter Market. The first one will be on 6/5. John Paton circulated the list of duties and chores, which need to be done, and there seemed to be plenty… please help where you can. A volunteer is required for distribution of leaflets in the town
- FROGS Breakfast – Noel Emselle has been cancelled. The roster was passed around for the clean up of the Lookout reserve.
- John Calnin reminded the Mega Swim team that their training sessions are on Sunday morning. There are 9 teams entered so far. John also thanked all those who turned up to attend the Dawn

- New Generations. Anne Hodgkinson. The student who went to RYPEN and her parents will speak to her experience. Science Experience students are being selected.

Guest Speaker: Amanda Hough from RI Torquay and member of 9780 District Committee of Interplast for 3 years.
Amanda traveled to Balik Papan in Borneo as an observer of the work being done with the $20,000.00 allocated to this area for an Interplast Surgical team to perform mostly corrective surgery for people of the Diak tribe. This area of Borneo has special significance for Australia because of the close ties during WW2. Z Force was mainly operational in the area as was the Sandikan POW Camp.

Surgical teams are funded by Rotary and the College of Surgeons. The problems are mainly Kerosene burns as kerosene is easily confused with water, as it is colourless. Children are the main victims and if the scar tissue contractures are not treated, affected areas eventually become useless. Cleft Palate and lip, though no greater than anywhere else in the world the burden on these people is great, as the mother must stay at home to care for the affected child who it is believed to be touched by evil spirits. Surgery is free and performed in the only hospital in Balik Papan. Equipment provided is modern and not discards from Australian Hospitals. There is no air-conditioning in the wards but there are many flies, and cats control rats and mice. Despite this the infection rate is small and patients return home soon after surgery.
Amanda believed the greatest satisfaction gained by all participants was the knowledge that these people could become fully functioning members of their community and look forward to a normal productive life. A return visit is planned but sponsorship of $20,000.00 is needed. A raffle to raise the money is being held.
The other important function of Interplast is education of native people to perform simple surgery without assistance in their own countries.
