3 on Me: Rod Bush
Rod was born in Preston and has a twin sister. He studied science and teaching at university, loved playing basketball, married Patsy and teaching, basketball and Patsy have remained in his life ever since.
Despite that being a very brief account of Rod's life, these things have taken him to almost all parts of the world in one capacity or another. They have lived and worked in the UK, Lisbon, Zimbabwe, have travelled to many regions throughout Europe and Asia, India, and Africa.
Fortunately for us they keep coming back to this area. They have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren.  And although he is retired from teaching, he is President of the Board of Basketball Referees, and on the committee for the Pastoral Healthcare Network of Australia. In his spare time, he is often called upon to help the computer unsavvy people of Rotary with their technology issues!

Club Assembly - the chairperson of each committee gave a brief rundown of what their committee is planning to achieve in the next 12 months:

International - Fully commit to supporting the Solemaid Community School Project in Bangladesh, with the possibility of combining with other clubs in the district on a bigger project

Vocational -
Pride of Workmanship Awards, Gordon Scholarship in Cookery & Hospitality, Workplace visits, Shine On Awards and inviting vocational speakers to the meetings

Community - Involvement in Community Showcase Picnic and Relay 4 Life, upgrading of Rotary signs around Ocean Grove, ongoing projects at Surfside PS, Christmas dinner for the elderly & isolated, installation of the water fountain (options are BASC or Uniting Church), conduct a needs analysis in the community.

Youth - Current projects such as Graham Bath Youth Leadership awards, National Science Project etc will be continued. This year will see an outgoing Youth Exchange, encourage employers to pay for employee to attend RYLA, and finally arrange a Alumni reunion night where some who have been involved in Rotary projects can speak about their experiences and how it has helped them get where they are today.

Next Club Assembly will be 2nd September.
