Geelong Rotary Club to put in a submission to update the use of the Geelong Jail
Committee Reports:
Market: Because of our involvement in the Art Show over Melbourne Cup Weekend it was decided that the gold coin collection would be handed over to the Barwon Heads Girl Guides. Most areas of the roster are covered.
Membership: Many thanks to those members who returned comments about the questionnaire. Any corrections or alterations will be circulated this week.
Social: The Progressive luncheon was held on Sunday 26/10/2014. All those who attended appeared to enjoy the good food and good company on a very happy day. Approximately 40 Rotarians and their partners attended. John and Nan Calnin were warmly thanked for their organization and attention to detail. The three hosts were also thanked, the Waltons, A George and the Greers.
Art Show: The opening night on Friday 31st October 25, 2014 will be a make up night and members attending will be subsidized for food. Volunteers as per list will be needed. The event is being held at the Point Lonsdale Primary School Hall at 7.30pm.
Car Raffle: Books are available for those willing to take them. The majority will be sold at markets we hope.
Vocational: Correction from last week: - the recipient for the award at the Gordon Institute is now working as a hairdresser and therefore no longer qualifies for the award.

Guest Speaker: Greg Jones. "Breathing Life into Queenscliffe.
Greg has been deeply involved in the Paralympic movement and has had ample opportunity to problem solve and innovation. He has realized that a method to transport tourists from the Ferry into the town areas is necessary if business is to move ahead. He has searched the world for an ecofriendly method of providing transport and subsequently introduced "Bongo! Transport." These vehicles are all-electric and will accommodate 6 adults. They are suitable for the elderly and some disabled people. As they are easy to drive they will enable valuable employment for many classes of people, provided they pass the very strict licensing regulations.

There are plans to expand into Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads. Greg hopes to have further vehicles manufactured in Geelong. The main aim is to inject more life and vitality into the towns on either side of the Bay and will achieve this if he can gain the approval and co-operation of the permanent residents. There are currently three vehicles in both Queenscliff and Sorrento. Fares are reasonably priced and whilst the routes are fixed the timetable and working times for the employees are flexible.
This seems a good venture and it is hoped that it succeeds.
