Final Art Show meeting for 2014 |
Art Show: The Show was well attended and comments on the standard of work were very good. There was also praise for the conduct of the show. The Committee and all those who helped were thanked most profusely.
Car Raffle: Books are available for those willing to take them. The majority will be sold at markets we hope.
Vocational: Correction from last week – The recipient of the award in 2014, Shaylah Wiseman, while continuing her course at the Gordon in cookery/hospitality has had to relinquish her position as an apprentice at the Q-Seafood restaurant in Queenscliffe, finding it too physically demanding with her disability. She is currently working as a hairdresser again, but hopes to use her cookery training again in the future at another restaurant.
Membership: The discussion on the Internet was good and amendments to our procedures will be formalized soon.
Foundation: Results from the Annual Fund report show a record amount has been raised and the financial situation is very healthy.
Guest Speaker: no 1.
Sami Gravener, our outbound student exchange delivered her presentation for her experience in France. This was well received with a few suggestions for minor alterations. Most members felt she delivered her message very well and feel confident she will be a very worthy ambassador for our Rotary Club and Australian youth.
Guest Speaker: no 2. Greg McDonald from the Ocean Grove Business Association.
Greg spoke mostly about the rapid changes that are occurring in the business world as the usage of electronic and digital methods of doing business is increasing. Employment trends are changing too.
All businesses have access to assistance and the Association is working towards ways of promoting the area. There is close association with the City of Greater Geelong especially in terms of parking and main shopping areas.
His main message was to Buy local and buy often!
Please note it is essential that apologies be recorded by 12noon on Mondays. Also the Club has to pay for members who have apologized and not turned up! Phone number is 0457 315 900. Thank You.
