Members present were updated with the method of administering CPR and the use of Public Access Defibrillators. Steve stressed that care must be taken when these are used but safeguards and modern design has eliminated many problems. Old CPR methods resulted in 1in10 survival rate, but with changes to the work place health and safety act and defibrillators in Ambulances survival rates have improved to 40% now.
DRSABCD (Danger, response, send for help, airway, breathing, circulation/compression and defibrillation) was explained and Steve emphasized this was to be used as the rule in cases where resuscitation appears necessary. Also stressed was the need to use protection when breathing during the procedure.
Currently the procedure consists of 30 compressions followed by 2 breaths with the aim of 100 compressions per minute.
A short film demonstrating CPR was shown followed by some practice.

Please note it is essential that apologies be recorded by 12noon on Mondays. Also the Club has to pay for members who have not apologized and not turned up!
Phone number is 0457 315 900. Thank You.

A Reminder… I would be very grateful if a hard copy of reports could be given to me at the meeting… My task would be made easier!
