Report: Meeting 16/6/2015.
Guest Speakers: Jac Renzenvrunt and Tina Evertze.
Jac and Tina as well as Tina's husband John who are experienced sea kayakers spoke with the aid of brilliant photo images about their adventures at such varied locations as Vanuatu, Capetown, Kangaroo Island and several locations in Tasmania including Strahan to Hobart and the North West coast.
Tina's sea kayak is equipped with three watertight compartments that can take clothing, provisions and other cargo with an all up weight of up to 100kgs. The unloaded weight of the vessel is about 23kgs.
The paddler sits on top, but can be completely covered from the elements except for the face. According to Tina the sea kayak is safer than a conventional boat.
These little vessels, originating with the Inuit's, (Eskimos) are generally made of fiberglass, can be steered by rudders or foot pedals, can cost anything up to $3000 new are propelled by a variety of paddles. A skilled and experienced paddler can restore an upturned sea kayak by lower bodily contortions and the legs.

Thanks to John Fox for these notes.
