Report of Meeting: 28/6/2016
President: Geoff and Jan Brentnall were warmly welcomed back.
DG Stephen Lamont proposed the toast to Rotary International. PDG Jane Cox replied.
Guests: Gaye and DG Stephen Lamont, PDG Jane Cox, AG Gp.9 Kathy Ryan, AG Gp. 10, Marion and Sec. OG & BH Lions Club Philip Scambler.
Visitors: President and P Pres. of RC Drysdale, Pres. Elect of Grovedale, Sec. RC Queenscliff, PP Of RC Queenscliffe, PP RC Eaglehawk Megan Penfound and Kate Greer Daughters of Judy and Rod Greer.
There were 40 Rotarians and 25 partners present as well as three Associate members.
- Gary Golding a past member is not well; our thoughts are with him and his family.

President Adrian briefly summarized his report:
- All members were thanked for their various contributions to a successful year.
- $48,000 was raised through many and varied activities and these funds have been distributed to 36 different organizations and worthy causes.
- The change of meeting format once a month has been successful as has the development of Associate membership with businesses.
- Four new members have been inducted.
- Social events organized by John Calnin were most successful as was Chinese New Year recognition.
- John Paton organized ‘Ride the Bellarine cycle event.
- A strategic plan for the Club was developed.
- Tree planting at the Lookout and extension of three garden beds at Surfside Primary s
School was undertaken.
-The summer and winter markets continued, as did the Art Show. These two activities are the major fundraisers for the Club. The car raffle is also a major contributor.
- The Rotary Junior Community Awards continue, as does Christmas dinner for Senior Citizens.
- We supported an outbound exchange student and this next year will support an inbound student.
- The Club participated in Red Cross calling collection and provided breakfast for attendees at the ANZAC dawn service.
- Two Vocational visits were organized and three Pride of Workmanship awards were presented.
- The dry cell battery recycling collection continues, as does the installation of defibrillators and Bowel Scan program.
- The Club was awarded two District grants for the work in the Solemaid School in Bangladesh.
Adrian extended special thanks to Tony Haines (Secretary), Noel Emselle (Treasurer), PP John Paton and Vice President Coral Barker, Service Chairs, the four Sergeants and Marg Campbell for the program of speakers.
With the magic talents of Rod Bush, a comprehensive AV presentation of Adrian’s year was shown.

A Paul Harris fellowship was awarded to Marion Walton. This was received with great acclamation.

Sapphire pins (Paul Harris recognition of donations to Foundation) were given to Gerry Spencer and Alison George. A special award was given to John Paton for his contribution to Polio Plus through ‘Ride the Bellarine,’

The Club was awarded a District Citation for meeting the goals of Community Service, International Service, special projects for Foundation and high per capita achievement for Centurian membership. Peter Cullen became the 19th member to become a Centurian contributor.

Bob Osbourne was congratulated on reaching his 90th Birthday and being a Rotarian for 52
years. He has decided to retire. The membership thanked him for his sterling service and wished him well for the future. Bob has been granted honorary membership of the Club.

Thanks were extended to Adrian Schmidt for a job well done and it is hoped he and Jenny will enjoy the wine and flowers given them by the Club.

The 2016/17 Board

Judy then introduced the Board and Service Committee Chairs
for 2016/17. We look forward to another happy and constructive year following the new Rotary Theme – ‘ROTARY SERVING HUMANITY.

Community: Peter Hawthorn will circulate a list of people he hopes members will contact for ‘Are you OK?’ over the next few weeks.
The erection of a Bicycle shed is being proposed for the Bellarine Secondary College, as is a Vegetable Garden. Peter Cullen is searching for more affordable quotes.

Market: There will be a market on Sunday 3/7/16. A roster has been circulated.
Youth: -  Drysdale and our Club are once again hosting an incoming Exchange student. Host Families are in hand. Her name is Tiffany and she comes from Taiwan. She will be attending the Bellarine Secondary College.
Art Show Sub Committee: There will be a launch of the 2016 show in early August.
Social: A talent night is being considered on 4/10/2016. Start practicing your acts now.
