Guest Speakers:
Karin Shirley, Kerry Benson & Patsy Bush
Karin Shirley
Karin realized three and a half years ago that an Arts Hub was needed for the Bellarine Peninsular. She has been working with the Geelong City Council and learned of all the requirements needed to have such a center available. A feasibility study is needed as is finance to realize the dream. She hopes the centre would promote opera, life drawing, children's activities and hopefully an Arts Trail.  The planning for this is underway and there has been a good response with 19 shops and 40 artists involved. The trail event will be held on the weekend of 29-30th October and she hopes visitors to the Rotary Art Show and those on the Arts Trail will patronize each other.
Kerry Bedson
Kerry works full time as a teacher but hopes to increase her already considerable involvement in Studio 54. The studio is located in the old workshop and gallery of Noel Essex in Grubb Road. The area caters for Community groups and after much preparation and refurbishment the various spaces are ready for full use. There are four areas; the Gallery where indigenous art is displayed, a Visual Arts space where music groups etc. can work, a workshop/ studio where children can create and another space which is available for groups to hold workshops or functions. Studio 54 has disabled access and a small kitchenette. The landscaped gardens are now available for outdoor activities.
Patsy Bush
Patsy showed members examples of her work. She has a studio in Geelong but also works from home. Her creations are very skillful and complicated as she uses many variations of painting, drawing, printmaking, linocuts, lithographs, collages, computer generated design and sculpture. Patsy has done a wide range of illustrative work for artist's books and Journals, other commercial illustrations for Estate agents and Councils and even the ubiquitous T-shirt. Her inspiration comes from her surroundings and other artists as well as her family and pets. Her work appears sensitive and gentle, often softly coloured and very individual. There also seems to be a sense of fun in her creations.

Thank You, AG

Sam Owori is selected to be 2018 - 2019 Rotary President

What’s on 6 September - Club Assembly
The meeting on that week will be an open forum for members to speak openly about what
they want for the Rotary Club of Ocean Grove. It is an opportunity to suggest new ideas and ways
in which we might improve our club even more to build on the good work of previous years.
New and innovative ideas are welcomed.
