Fundraising Report: Judy Greer is to pick up our cheque from the Footy Gates at 1.15 pm next Saturday. Congratulations to Peter Cullen for his organisation of this fundraising event. Adrian Schmidt has spoken to the new Bunnings store opening in Leopold who are willing to give us a date for a sausage sizzle in the October – December period.
Rod Bush demonstrated the Club website and asked members to forward updates to Gil Morgan or Marg Campbell. Under the Home button are located public links and documents. This includes a link to the District 9780 web site. Members need to create an account and login to use that site. The members' area of the Ocean Grove Club site is accessed with the password grubber. Each Committee has a page and Chairs are asked to provide a small information text to Rod Bush. All chairs are asked to look at the site regularly, keep their material updated and report any problems to Rod.
The meeting then went into service committees and were asked to discuss their current projects and ideas for fundraising. The following reports were provided:
· Youth – current projects are Youth Exchange and Graham Bath Junior Citizenship Awards.
· International – suggested holding a (Robbie) Burns Supper on the 25th January, possibly at McGlashen's Winery.
· Vocational – One nomination for Pride of Workmanship received being Meerkat Manor. This will be presented on 11 October.
· Community – Current projects are bike shelter at BSC, relocation of the water feature, DIK collection in October or November, and Surfside garden next year, continuing recycling collections. They considered two projects, the Light the Night with the Leukaemia Foundation function on 7th October and the 2016 Bellarine Relay for Life with the Cancer Council to be held on 5th/6th November. It was decided that the O.G. Club would not be directly involved. However, if any members want to be involved in other capacities they should contact Meaghan Bush, Light the Night, on 1800 500 088, email ltn@leukaemia.org.au or www.lightthenight.org.au
or Loz Hardman,
Thank you, AH
