Report of Meeting: 28/2/2017

Three on Me:  Sam Ho.
Sam is from a small village in Wales where she studied Dentistry at the University of Cardiff. After graduation she worked at the Children's Hospital. She and Don were married in 2010 and came to Australia in 2012. She has been working in Dentistry in Ocean Grove for four years, and has bought the practice here. Sam has completed further study in modern practices including dental implants and a non-obvious method of straightening teeth.
Sam is used to volunteering and enjoys the activity as she commenced this whilst at University.

Changes to Club Rules and By-Laws.

1. The Rotary International Council of Legislation has altered the rules of governing clubs and RI. Judy Greer and Tony Haines have spent many hours writing amendments that suit club requirements in consultation with a Law Firm. The Board recommended to the club to pass the amended Rules and By-Laws and the members present endorsed the recommendations of the Board.

2. Judy Greer and Adrian Schmidt will vote on behalf of the Club at the District Conference. Members were asked to elect a Rotarian to the Council of Legislation. Two Past Presidents were nominated, PDG Ron Pickford and PDG Ken McInerney. Members endorsed Ken McInerney.

Treasurer: Club funds are healthy. A balance sheet was circulated.

Community: Battery Collection is going well with 2.8 tonnes being captured. There are now 4 collection points.

Publicity: DISTRICT CONFERENCE "BE BOLD" 31March – 1/2April will be held at the Barrabool Hills Centre and Saturday night dinner at the South Barwon Civic Centre with the theme of James Bond. Please check the District Website for all info relating to this important event. Registration forms are also available from the Website.

Foundation: Centurian donation boxes are available from Gerry Spencer.
Fundraising: District Fundraiser for ROMAC on February 18th at Buckley's Entertainment Centre raised $5000.00
- 'Ride the Bellarine' for Polio Plus is being planned. See John Paton if you can help and confirm if you want the same Marshaling places as last year.
- Club members are involved with the Disabled Surfers on 5/3/2017. The BBQ team is organized but other helpers would be welcome.

Market: There are some spots to be filled for the BBQ and Raffle sellers. Contact Coog if you can help on Sunday 5th March.

Health: Peter Hawthorne has had surgery. Rehab is proceeding.
- Gerry Spencer is still receiving treatment in St John of God.

Youth: Tiffany has moved to her new host family, the Honeywell's.

Vocational: The meeting for 7/3/2017 will be at Oakdene. A 2-course meal is being provided for $35.00. 30 persons are needed and this figure has been reached. See Martin Geerings if any information is needed. Please notify Martin of any dietary needs.

Social: Community Bowls were held at the Point Lonsdale Bowling Club again this year with a winning result by one of our teams.

Footy Tipping: It's on again. See Alex if you wish to have some fun.

Club Assembly.

Community: New directions for our efforts are needed probably without the involvement of the Bureaucracy. DIK continues, as does the care of the Lookout reserve, as there may be more planting required. Involvement with the Laundry (Eng) to investigate, Clearing and maintenance of the walking/cycling track on Grubb Road is ongoing.

International: A Crowd funding proposal is being set up for the Solmaid School.
-Viqueque project (toilets) in Timor L'Este has been given a district grant.
-The Cambodian water project has been awarded a Global Grant. There have been 11 clubs involved with this.
- It is proposed to display the Shelter Box in the area at the entrance of Woolworths in April or May.

Vocational: The aims of the group were achieved.
- There have been two visits to work places, Epworth and Oakdene (next week).
- The Culinary award to a student at Deakin has been given, as have the Small Business and Rotary Apprentice of the Year Awards.

Youth: The Junior Community Awards program (Graham Bath Awards) is underway again this year with many expressions of interest in three Primary Schools.
- The Roy Rose Awards will be made at the Bellarine Secondary College.
- There are three people interested in participating in RYPEN.
