Guest Speaker: Rod Bush (at short notice) "The Mysterious easy doings of Facebook".
This item/phenomenon is a tool used worldwide. It is used to make contact with others in every way including news, gossip, information, opinion thoughts and marketing. It is an easy and important means of connecting with people especially children and keeping up with their world. It fosters a sense of responsibility, relevance and freedom as well.
There are 2 billion people worldwide who use social media monthly and in Australia there are 12 million. Facebook provides rapid, instant communication, which the user can control providing the new language is learned, and a suitable account is created. Rod demonstrated how an Account and Facebook page is set up. It looks easy enough and could be a source of different stimulation.
There are very few members of the club who have a Facebook page that is fairly typical of older generations. Rod emphasized that posting on the clubs Facebook page can indicate the amount of activity within the club and could therefore be important.
Rod encouraged all members to join and participate…you never know what might eventuate!
Thank you,
AG
