Report of Meeting: 4/7/2017

Notices and Reports: President John asked that people who are rostered on for meeting duties to please arrive early enough to assist with setting up.
Remember that the policy of no apology, no show will earn an invoice for the meal.
Fred Andrews will coordinate the Ballarat South Rotary Club Car Raffle.
Membership fees are due. $210.00. John Paton or Noel Emselle will accept them happily and with grace.
- RC of Torquay is hosting an event with Cadell Evans on 12/7/2017 Cost is $100.00
- A move of the summer market to Ingermells  (Ocean Grove) Park is being finalized.
Manager/Co-ordinator will be Adrian Schmidt.
- An Appeal – Does anyone know the whereabouts of the stands upon which the small banners are displayed? The Collendina Hotel, David Tyrrell and Rod Birrell have been checked.

Publicity: Please let Marg Campbell know if you have any suggestions for speakers at a meeting.

Fundraising: Volunteers are needed for the manning of the gates at the Geelong and District Finals matches. This is a good fundraiser for the Club. See Peter Cullen for more information.

Footy Tipping: Gill won last week, Alison won this week (it is all a mystery how!)
Bill Walton is the leader of the competition.

Reports: Club Assembly.

Community: There will be a Seniors Christmas Party again this year.
The Club will sponsor the major Art Show prize.
The Club will host the Anzac Day Breakfast again.
The Club will contribute to the information book for the environment.
There will be a planting session at the Lookout Park soon.
The placement of the Water Feature is still under discussion.
Bird and bat boxes from the Men's Shed are available.
Involvement in Coast Care, the Australia Day Street Festival and DIK will be included.

Foundation:
The Centurian Program will continue with either direct donation or the gold coin boxes as for last year. Three new Centurians were recognized.

International: The Committee agreed to continue to support the Solemaid School in Bangladesh and the continued support of the toilet block in Viqueque in Timor L'Este. (There has been a grant from RI Foundation to support these projects).
Irrigation in Cambodia will continue.
ROMAC, Interplast and Shelter Box programs will also continue to be supported.
An International Meal will be discussed further.
Youth: The Club will continue The Roy Rose Award given to Bellarine Secondary College students as will scholarship support of Year 11 & 12 students.
Community Links discussion and information for Year 9 students will continue as will the Junior Citizenship Awards (Graeme Bath Awards). There are 50+ students involved this year.
The Club will support students interested in the Youth Science Experience.
Tiffany Shah will return to Ocean Grove shortly and members will have the opportunity to meet her parents on 18th June. Jaqui Honeywell is well and happy in Germany and has moved to her third host family.
It has been decided that the Club will not support a Youth Exchange Student this year.

Vocational: Several activities are planned.
24/10 – A speaker from Cotton On Australia.
14/11 – (Sunday) a visit to Rokewood by bus to view the piggery, followed by dinner at the Inverleigh Hotel.
Acknowledgement of the Apprentice of the Year at a Restaurant in Ocean Grove
13/2 – A dinner and Auction for Motor Neurone Disease.
10/4 – A visit to the MCG, (perhaps.)

Social: Several events are being considered; A Car Rally, Drive in Movie Night, Light the Night for Rotary and a progressive dinner. More information later.

** There will be a 'Light of Day' fundraiser for research into Parkinson's disease on 21st and 22nd July at venues in Ocean Grove. The musicians' move from venue to venue and in the past this has become an event not to be missed. The artists perform professionally and most give their time freely. Tickets can be purchased on line or from the venues. Contact Richard Grimmett for information.
