Guest Speaker: Coral Barker described the early day and events of the Art Show.  🎨
The Show is being held for the 8th year this year and while many members have been involved she stressed that all members need to be involved for this success to continue.
The mounting of the show was the brain- child of a past member Ian Downing. It took two years to organize, promote and implement the 1st show. Two local organizations were selected as the main beneficiaries, Riding Develops Abilities and Disabled Surfers Association as it was felt that there would be a ‘feel good’ factor that donors could identify with. There are three categories, painting (all mediums), printmaking and drawing
The show is different because there is reasonable prize money awarded to the winning artists and entry fees whilst reasonably high have resulted in many well-recognized artists to enter. The Board of Management gave substantial seeding money to the fist show that was held in the Queenscliff Town Hall. Over 300 works were entered and a somewhat chaotic hanging session the results of this show at $15,000 encouraged the Club and the committee to continue in future years. The whole operation is now smooth and orderly and artists and audience appear to appreciate their efforts.
Judges are preferably not local artists. The show is now mounted in the Point Lonsdale Primary School, as there is no other facility that is suitable or has the required attributes on the Peninsular.
. This year the show is officially part of the Bellarine Arts Trail, which has been extended to include Pt. Lonsdale and Queenscliff.
The Club has been able to give $55,000 since 2011 so please publicize the Art Show and attend when you are able.
This year the Art Show is on the evening of 3rd November as well as Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th November. There have been some entries already!

Thank you.
